Transmet’s zinc flake is rapidly solidified in our melt spinning process. The flakes are very uniform in size and shape. The flakes have a high surface area to weight ratio making them a good alternative to working with dangerous powders. We produce SHG (99.9% pure) zinc flake and also have the ability to alloy or micro alloy to meet specific chemical requirements.
Current flakes used in alkaline batteries are 15 microns thick x 0.50 mm square. There are about 7,000,000 zinc flakes in a pound.
Applications for zinc flake include:
- Alkaline batteries
- Fuel cells
- Zinc air batteries
- Feedstock for chemical reactions
- Friction compound additives
Zinc Flake
Transmet’s zinc needles are cast in a proprietary centrifugal atomization process. Transmet zinc needles are air atomized and do not contain any oils, dust, or internal porosity.
Our casting process makes this product unique with a consistent size and shape.
